Description

The Education Manager ensures relationship between Seattle Theatre Group (STG) and local/national school partnerships programs. This role curates and manages matinee performances, school workshops, residencies, trainings, and educational partnerships. This role will connect quality educational programs that fit into the larger picture of STG’s vision and mission. We focus our programs on historically excluded communities and take pride in providing a platform for ALL to learn from creative expression. This is a full time position with medical, dental, vision, life, LTD, STD insurance as well as paid time off. This position earns between $29.25 and $$40.95/hour (midpoint $35.10/hour)

  • Produce, manage and/or support local and national school partnerships that increase STG’s visibility in K-12 arts education
  • Develop, lead and supervise curriculum for K-12 arts education programs.
  • Create and manage programs for neurodivergent and disabled community
  • Manage, support and/or produce student matinee performances
  • Recruit, hire, train, and supervise a diverse pool of teaching artists while also providing feedback. Substitute classes and support teaching artists as needed
  • Facilitate professional development for classroom teachers, teaching artists, and staff
  • Program offerings at Kerry Hall, STG venues and in the community
  • Represent STG onstage delivering curtain speeches, moderating Q&As, fostering conversations at student workshops and representing the education & community department at tabling events and PK-12 school events
  • Work closely with other departments at STG for recruitment, cross collaboration, data collection, reporting, tracking, and advancing events
  • Create grassroots recruitment strategies utilizing school relationships to increase matinee, in school and Kerry Hall program attendance
  • Manage day-to-day operations of assigned programs
  • Be onsite for programs and flexibility to work on evenings and weekends
  • Ensure a series of concurrent projects with competing deadlines delivered with high quality, on time and on budget
  • Provide logistical support for on and off-site events, performances and programs

Qualifications

  • 5-year minimum experience in curriculum writing, teaching artistry and supervisory work
  • Experience working with special education students, neurodivergent and disabled
  • Experience developing standards-aligned curriculum with an emphasis on hands-on learning for historically excluded communities
  • Experience or comparable experience recruiting and selling student matinee performances
  • Expertise in Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Accessibility frameworks and an ability to relate to diverse professional, cultural, and social perspectives
  • Proficiency in relevant Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and internet-based research
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with strong organizational ability
  • Display a positive attitude and calm demeanor in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
  • Ability to exercise confidentiality and discretionary judgment
  • Write and speak a second language is a plus
