The Distribution Center Assistant I plays a key role in connecting the Distribution Center’s inventory with ministries across Seattle Union Gospel Mission, as well as supporting other nonprofit partners throughout King County. This position involves assisting donors, sorting, and organizing donations, leading volunteers, and providing exceptional customer service to clients.Scheduled: Monday - Friday 8:00 am - 4:30 pmStarting pay: $21.68How you will serveOperate and maintain accuracy within a digital inventory management system.Receive incoming products and properly enter them into the inventory system.Transfer inventory accurately to designated locations within the warehouse.Pick and prepare orders efficiently for Mission facilities and nonprofit partners.Assemble furniture kits using hand tools such as hammers, screwdrivers, and pliers.Sort and categorize donated items according to established classification systems.Maintain detailed records to ensure data accuracy and inventory accountability.Keep assigned work areas clean, safe, and well-organized.Transport and distribute inventory to various departments within the warehouse.Provide excellent customer service while interacting with customers, donors, and coworkers.Train and supervise volunteers on Distribution Center procedures and assigned tasks.Attend and participate in all required Mission, Division, and Department meetings and training. Perform other job-related duties as assigned by the supervisor.How you qualify Acknowledge and sign the Mission's Statement of Faith (see below).High school diploma or GED required.Minimum of 1 year of warehouse experience preferred.Forklift operation experience preferred.Experience in food handling is preferred.Valid Food Handler’s Card preferred but not required.Experience with a Volunteer Management System (VMS) preferred.Experience working in cold storage environments preferred but not required.
