Position Title: Pharmacist

Location: Carolyn Downs Family Medical Center, Country Doctor Community Clinic, and After-Hours Clinic

Expected Hours: 32hrs/week

Union: Yes

 

 

Salary: $62.18– $92.82 per hour, payable bi-weekly. The salary scale for this position is between steps 0 and 19, depending on experience. About Us

Seattle Roots Community Health is a not-for-profit organization that operates two primary care clinics, an After-Hours Clinic, two School-Based Health Centers, a low barrier Medication-assisted treatment clinic and a Dental Clinic. Our Carolyn Downs Family Medical Center was founded in 1970 in Seattle's Central District. Our Country Doctor Community Clinic was established in 1971 by residents of the Capitol Hill neighborhood.

Job Summary

The Pharmacist is responsible for ensuring the safe, accurate, and effective distribution of medications to patients. This position involves working closely with healthcare providers, patients, and other medical professionals to assess, review, and optimize medication therapies. The pharmacist will play a key role in patient care by providing medication counseling, managing drug interactions, ensuring compliance with health regulations, and contributing to overall health outcomes. This role requires strong knowledge of pharmacology, attention to detail, and effective communication skills.

 

Job Responsibilities

  • Dispense prescribed medications to patients accurately, ensuring appropriate dosage and labeling.
  • Review and assess patient medication profiles to ensure safe and appropriate use of drugs.
  • Counsel patients on medication usage, side effects, storage, and possible drug interactions.
  • Collaborate with doctors, nurses, and other healthcare providers to develop, implement, and adjust medication treatment plans.
  • Monitor patients’ medication regimens and ensure adherence to prescribed therapies.
  • Provide guidance on over-the-counter medications, including recommendations for appropriate use and dosage.
  • Maintain and manage inventory of medications, ensuring proper storage and timely restocking.
  • Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations regarding the handling and dispensing of medications.
  • Document all medication dispensing activities in the pharmacy system, ensuring compliance with legal and ethical standards.
  • Assist in the training and supervision of pharmacy interns and staff as needed.
  • Stay current on advancements in pharmacology, drug therapies, and medication management practices.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and maintain pharmacy best practices.
  • Work with patients to resolve insurance, billing, or medication coverage issues.
  • Maintain and update patient medication records and communicate with other healthcare professionals about potential medication-related concerns.
 

 

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 1-2 years of experience as a licensed pharmacist in a healthcare setting, preferably in a clinical or hospital environment.
  • In-depth knowledge of pharmacology, medication therapy management, and drug interactions.
  • Experience with electronic health record (EHR) systems, preferably Epic or other healthcare management systems.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills for patient education and inter-professional collaboration.
  • Strong problem-solving skills to address complex medication-related issues and concerns.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
  • Proficiency in using pharmacy dispensing systems and maintaining accurate medication records.
  • Knowledge of relevant healthcare laws, regulations, and pharmacy best practices.
  • Excellent customer service skills, with a patient-centered approach to care.

 

Education & Training

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Completion of a certified Medical Assistant training program.
  • Fully vaccinated against COVID-19 (required).
  • Current Medical Assistant Certification through the Washington State Department of Health.
  • Active CPR certification (required).

 

Experience & Skills

    • Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree from an accredited pharmacy school.

    • Completion of a pharmacy internship or residency program is preferred.

    • Active state licensure as a Pharmacist required.

    • Board certification in a pharmacy specialty (e.g., BCPS, BCPP) preferred.

    • Basic Life Support (BLS) and/or CPR certification.
