$22.74– $33.95 Per hour, non-exempt, payable bi-weekly. The salary scale for this position is between steps 0 and 19, depending on experience. Job Summary
The Patient Account Representative I (PAR I) is responsible for patient intake and registration, cashier duties, and referring more complicated medical appointments to the triage staff for assessment. The (PAR I) provides assistance to patients, doctors, office employees, and other individuals. This position helps the clinic run smoothly by scheduling appointments, greeting and checking in patients, answering phones, maintaining accounts and records, and other tasks as needed.
From the moment the patient walks through our door or calls, they should feel like part of the Seattle Roots Community Health family. Whether in person or over the phone, the Patient Account Representative is typically the first face or voice our patients will see or hear. This position is on call for the Call Center and Front Desk.
Job Responsibilities

Greet and check in patients upon their arrival

Create a chart for new patients

Verify, correct, and update EPIC registration information at every patient visit, including:

Patient’s name, address, date of birth, telephone number, email address, and other required fields

Hand outpatient registration forms to new patients and make sure that patients have a current signed registration form every year

Setting up alerts when the current registration form is received and or the financial agreement

Verifying insurance information and setting up new insurance as necessary

Collection of co-payments, minimum fees, and outstanding balances

Remove alert codes when they become invalid

Sliding Fee Scale verification and update when needed

Post all in-person patient payments in EPIC

Daily reconcile payments to the EPIC-generated report

Schedule appointments and adjust patient schedules as needed due to the provider’s absence

Answer incoming calls as needed and forward them to the appropriate staff or assist the caller by providing appropriate information

Communicate knowledge of resources available, both medical and non-medical (i.e. dental, optometry, food banks, emergency housing, etc.)

Screen and refer patients to triage staff for complicated medical problems

Assist Eligibility Specialists to ensure all managed care patients are assigned to clinic

Participate in the staff evaluation process and staff meetings

Back up other billing, front desk, and finance functions as required, including After Hours Clinic Coverage

Perform special projects as assigned
Qualifications

High School Diploma
-
Trained to use practice management system for patient registration

Minimum two years customer service/front desk and client care coordination experience in a medical clinic or health care environment

Excellent verbal and written communication and customer service skills

Knowledge of automated accounts receivable systems

Ability to work collaboratively and foster a team environment

Experience with EPIC, preferred

Experience working in a community health organization, preferred

Experience working with a culturally diverse population, preferred
