Position Description
Seattle Public Utilities has an opportunity for a Senior Civil Engineering Specialist within the Development Services Office (DSO). This position serves on the DSO's Side Sewer Review and Permitting Team, which determines the requirements of and processes permits for new drainage and sanitary side sewer connections. This position reports to the DSO Side Sewer Supervisor.

Qualifications
Experience: Four years’ civil engineering experience.
Education: An Associate Degree in Civil Engineering Technology or two years of college level coursework in engineering and construction technology.
Or: A combination of education and/or training and/or experience which provides an equivalent background required to perform the work of the class.
Licenses or Certificates: Current Washington State driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility.

- Understanding of construction practices/principles, engineering practices/principles, regulatory requirements, Utility Operations and Maintenance practices, Project Management, or a combination thereof.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) or Asset Management software. Some examples: Outlook, Teams, Visio, Planner, SharePoint, OneDrive, Excel, GIS, and Maximo.
- Reporting Tools: Tableau, Power BI, Excel, or other.
- This position works in an office location and may occasionally require field visits to other facilities and project sites.
- Most work is performed in a normal City work/office environment.
- Field assignments entail exposure to all types of weather, traffic, hazardous/toxic substances and work in or near construction sites.
- May be required to lift over 50 pounds.
- May be required to stand, walk, or bend for extended periods of time.
- Overnight travel may be required.
