The Role:
This is a part-time position within the Seattle Kraken. We are looking for fun, ambitious, hardworking, and dedicated individuals to promote hockey through the Seattle Kraken. This vital role within the marketing department will serve as a brand ambassador for the Kraken while working with multiple departments within the organization. In addition, this individual will need to be available for a minimum of 75% of monthly home games and events.
Candidates must be available for a flexible schedule throughout the hockey season, approximately 8 hours per week. Shifts will vary depending on need, generally 4-6 hour shifts from 11am – 4pm and 4pm – 10pm. May include weekends and holidays. Must work a minimum of one shift a week when shifts are available.
Tasks and Responsibilities:
- Set up and breakdown Kraken community/marketing outreach activities and activations at festivals, runs, expos, fairs, and other events as needed, and supervise and interact with event participants.
- Promote the Seattle Kraken at on-site and off-site events (i.e. home games, special events, sports tournaments, partner appearances, festivals, etc.).
- Assist with all operational needs and activate the following elements while representing the Seattle Kraken - hand out premium items, facilitate on-site promotions, interact with fans, and communicate with them.
- Distribute marketing materials and promotional items at various events to promote the brand.
- Operate and maintain promotional equipment, including but not limited to: mobile promotional vehicles, giveaways, inflatables, tables, tents, and other set-up elements.
- Utilize grassroots and word-of-mouth marketing techniques to grow the Kraken brand.
- Other duties as deemed necessary or as directed by the Director of Fan Development (or Specialist)
Qualifications:
- 18 years of age or older
- Have a positive attitude and can collaborate and work well with others.
- Organize with the ability to multi-task and problem-solve in a fast-paced work environment.
- Possess a friendly demeanor that encourages positive interactions with fans.
- Requires extended periods of standing; and must be able to lift 25 pounds.
- Must be dependable and provide high energy to engage with fans
- Strong knowledge of sports, specifically Kraken hockey
- Must have flexible hours, including early mornings, late nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Must work a minimum of one shift a week when shifts are available.
- Must have a reliable source of transportation.
- Possess a valid driver’s license, automobile liability insurance, and a good driving record (to be able to drive the company vehicle)
- Have a flexible schedule – available to work on and offsite events (i.e. home games, special events, sports tournaments, partner appearances, festivals, etc.) as required.
- Must be able to work under diverse weather conditions, ensuring the set-up and breakdown of events and programs.
- Ice skating experience is not a requirement but a plus.
- Passionate about the Seattle Kraken.
- Maintain good attendance and punctuality
