The position: We’re seeking an Asset Repositioning and Sustainability Intern to support key initiatives across SHA’s real estate portfolio. In this role, you’ll help analyze projects involving redevelopment, rehabilitation, acquisitions, and sales, while also partnering with our Sustainability team to assess environmental programs and recommend improvements. You’ll collaborate closely with Asset Managers and Sustainability Analysts to plan and implement projects that advance agency goals, including initiatives like the Green Cleaning Program and the Project Roadmap. This is a great opportunity to gain hands-on experience in both real estate strategy and sustainability.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have

  • Basic understanding of office practices and procedures
  • Some knowledge of real estate management, project or program management, resource conservation, or sustainability
  • Experience in data analysis, project/program management, and public presentations is not required but highly beneficial
  • High School diploma or GED required

What will you do?

  • Create detailed property reports with key physical, operational, and demographic data.
  • Review and summarize monthly financial statements for assigned properties.
  • Support utility and waste reduction analysis and build partnerships with local utilities.
  • Update SHA databases with accurate data for resource-reduction efforts.
  • Help plan, develop, and evaluate projects and programs for effectiveness.
  • Assist with compliance activities related to energy benchmarking, billing, and waste rules.
  • Build working knowledge of HUD regulations, including Section 18 and RAD.
  • Provide program support across departments like Solid Waste, Maintenance, and Asset Management.
  • Coordinate outreach efforts for staff and residents on sustainability and redevelopment topics.
  • Assist with safety tasks, resource identification, budgeting, and data management for conservation projects.
