The position: We are looking for a lead asbestos abatement worker to join our team! This role is perfect for someone who can perform a variety of duties within the field of asbestos abatement and mold remediation.
The Location: 810 MLK JR Way S, Seattle, WA 98144
The ideal candidate will have:
- Completion of a state of Washington recognized course for asbestos abatement workers
- Completion of microbial remediation training
- State of Washington certification for asbestos workers
- State of Washington certification for asbestos supervisors
- 1600 hours of experience as an asbestos abatement worker
- AHERA certification
- Washington state driver’s license with a fully insurable driving record
What will you do?
- Erect custom containment and decontamination chambers and remove asbestos and mold containing materials
- Apply water or other materials used to moisten asbestos materials and scrape and remove asbestos containing materials using hand and power tools
- Place asbestos containing materials in proper containers for disposal according to local, state, and federal regulations
- Use HEPA vacuum and negative air-handling units to perform general demolition and cleanup of an area
- Maintain daily log and unit files of all workday activities
- Comply with all local, state, and federal regulations governing asbestos removal and serve as the point of contact for regulatory agencies
- Control the abatement process and oversee personal air monitoring of workers
- Schedule abatement projects and assign and lead staff
- Instruct staff on use of tools and equipment
- Conduct inspections and sampling and assist manager with AHERA building surveys
- Assess conditions, causes, and safety of asbestos containing materials and mold and make recommendations to leadership for management or abatement
