The SCRI Flow Cytometry Core is a state-of-the-art Shared Research Resource dedicated to supporting research at the Institute and for external academic and commercial partners. Located in the Building CURE, the core provides researchers with essential tools and expert scientific support to advance their projects, particularly in key scientific areas like Immunology. The core is committed to driving cytometric technology and offering scientific consultation, including assistance with experimental design, high-complexity panel design, and interpretation of multi-dimensional data.

The Research Technician II (RT-II) is a vital member of the SCRI Flow Cytometry Core Facility team, dedicated to advancing pediatric research by providing investigators with access to state-of-the-art flow cytometric technologies and expert support. This role focuses on the independent operation and maintenance of complex, advanced flow cytometers (E.g. BD S6, Bio-Sorter), providing essential sorting services, and delivering high-quality training and technical consultation to a diverse user base. The RT-II is expected to operate with a high degree of technical independence and contribute to the optimization and execution of multi-color flow cytometry assays.

Required Education And Experience

One year experience working in a Flow Cytometry core, including maintaining, troubleshooting and operating cell sorting and Flow analysis instruments.

Experience training researchers to operate cell sorters and Flow analysis instruments.

Bachelor’s Degree in an Engineering or Scientific discipline.

Required Credentials

Preferred

Two years' experience working in a high usage Flow Cytometry core, including maintaining, troubleshooting and

operating cell sorting and analysis instruments.

Demonstrated experience with human cell sorting applications and biosafety containment practices.

Experience operating cell sorting instruments in a BSL3 containment facility.

Experience acquiring Flow Cytometry data, preferably with BD FacsDiva software.

Data entry and word processing experience.

Experience in analyzing data using spreadsheets and statistical analysis.

Previous experience serving on an EHS safety committee.

Compensation Range

$29.16 - $43.73 per hour

Salary Information

This compensation range was calculated based on full-time employment (2080 hours worked per calendar year). Offers are determined by multiple factors including equity, skills, experience, and expertise, and may vary within the range provided.
