What are the responsibilities and job description for the ASME Welder (TIG, MIG, SAW, FCAW) - Union Shop position at Seattle Boiler Works?
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
· ASME Code Work: Perform TIG (GTAW), Subarc (SAW) and MIG (GMAW/FCAW) welding on stainless steel, aluminum, and mild steel, adhering strictly to ASME Section IX standards.
· Fabrication: Fit, align, and assemble large fabricated parts such as ice machines and pressure vessels from blue prints.
· Equipment Operation: Proficiently use grinders, cutting torches (oxygen/propane), plasma cutters, and air arc equipment.
· Quality Assurance: Ensure welds pass visual inspections and X-ray testing.
· General: Maintain a clean, organized work area; comply with all safety regulations.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
· High school graduate or GED.
· 2 years of experience in structural steel or pressure vessel fabrication (ASME experience preferred).
· Ability to read and interpret complex blueprints and welding symbols.
WORKING CONDITIONS & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
· Must pass in-house weld testing.
· Capable of standing continuously, bending, stooping, and lifting up to 60 pounds.
· Comfortable working in confined spaces or at heights.
· Must join union within 60 days of employment.
