Position Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Early Learning Center Coordinator to join our team on a part-time basis. This role is central to the daily operations of our Early Learning Center and requires a professional who is deeply familiar with state and federal early childhood education systems, including Merit and the Department of Children, Youth, and Families (DCYF). The ideal candidate is bilingual in English and Spanish, bringing both linguistic and cultural competency to serve our diverse families and community.
Position Details
- Job Type: Part-Time (hours flexible, to be determined based on program needs)
- Reports To: Head of School / Director of Early Learning
- Location: On-site (with occasional remote flexibility)
- Compensation: $22.00 – $29.00 per hour, depending on experience
- Language Requirement: Bilingual — English and Spanish (required)
Key Responsibilities
Program Coordination & Compliance
- Oversee day-to-day operations of the Early Learning Center in alignment with DCYF licensing requirements and regulations
- Maintain accurate records and documentation required for DCYF compliance, including enrollment files, health records, and incident reports
- Manage Merit system entries and reporting, ensuring timely and accurate data submission for subsidized care and program quality metrics
- Coordinate with licensing consultants and DCYF representatives during site visits and renewals
Family & Community Engagement
- Serve as the primary bilingual (English/Spanish) point of contact for families, providing support, communication, and resources in both languages
- Facilitate enrollment processes, parent orientations, and family meetings in English and Spanish
- Build and maintain strong relationships with families from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds
- Connect families to community resources, including subsidy programs, childcare assistance, and developmental support services
Staff Support & Scheduling
- Assist with coordinating flexible staff schedules to ensure appropriate child-to-teacher ratios at all times
- Support onboarding and orientation of new staff, including DCYF background check processes
- Collaborate with lead teachers and program director to align daily programming with early learning standards
Administrative Duties
- Maintain Merit platform for tracking program quality, professional development hours, and required training completions
- Prepare and submit reports, grant documentation, and program updates as required
- Monitor and order supplies, manage classroom materials inventory, and coordinate facility needs
Required Qualifications
- Associate's or bachelor’s degree in early childhood education, Child Development, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
- Minimum 2 years of experience working in a licensed early learning or childcare setting
- Demonstrated experience working with DCYF — including knowledge of licensing standards, compliance requirements, and reporting procedures
- Proficiency with the Merit system for professional development tracking and program quality reporting
- Bilingual fluency in English and Spanish (oral and written) — required
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, or similar tools
- Current CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire)
- Ability to pass a DCYF background check
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with early childhood subsidy programs (Working Connections Child Care, ECEAP, or similar)
- Knowledge of Washington State early learning frameworks and school readiness standards
- Experience supporting dual-language or multilingual learning environments
- Familiarity with trauma-informed practices and culturally responsive programming
