Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Payroll Processor, Income Tax Preparer, and Accounting Specialist to join our CPA firm. In this role, you will process client payroll, prepare individual and business income tax returns, and support general accounting services, helping our clients stay compliant and financially organized throughout the year.
Responsibilities
- Process client payroll accurately and on schedule, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local payroll tax regulations
- Prepare and review individual and business income tax returns, ensuring accuracy and compliance with current tax law
- Research tax questions and stay current on tax code changes affecting individual and business clients
- Perform general accounting services for clients, including general ledger maintenance, journal entries, and account reconciliations using software such as QuickBooks Online
- Prepare financial statements and reports to support client tax filings and business decision-making
- Communicate with clients to gather documentation, answer questions, and explain payroll and tax matters clearly
- Maintain compliance with GAAP and applicable accounting standards
Qualifications
- Experience preparing individual and/or business income tax returns
- Experience with payroll processing, including payroll tax filings and government reporting requirements
- Proven bookkeeping/accounting experience, including general ledger reconciliation, journal entries, and double-entry accounting
- Proficiency with accounting and tax preparation software (e.g., QuickBooks Online; tax software experience a plus)
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and current tax regulations
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple clients and deadlines, especially during tax season
- Strong written and verbal communication skills for client-facing interactions

Pay: $22.00 - $35.00 per hour
