Opportunity: CNC Operator
Seastrom Manufacturing is looking for a motivated and experienced machinist that is eager to demonstrate and enhance their skills in a precision manufacturing environment. The CNC Operator will operate one or more machines, make operational adjustments, and perform machine, tooling, and parts inspections.
This position requires the ability to consistently follow processes and schedules independently, with periodic interaction with managers and others. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Read, understand, and interpret engineering drawings.
- Load parts into the appropriate machinery, using the best available tooling methods.
- Remove, sharpen, and reset tools.
- Make slight adjustments when necessary.
- Inspect product using precision measuring tools.
- Product inspections during set-up and throughout the production process.
- Verify conformance of sample work pieces to specifications, using calipers and micrometers.
- Monitor machine for unusual conditions.
- Work in a safe and professional manner and wear proper protective equipment.
- Keep area mopped and clean.
- Load metal bar stock into feeding mechanism.
- Tag and return any unused material to material control to be put back into inventory.
- Cooperation with supervisor and co-workers, willing to work as a team.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Must meet "US Person" criteria per ITAR compliance requirements.
- High school diploma/GED or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum of 2 years of CNC experience.
- Intermediate technical certification preferred.
- Excellent mechanical aptitude.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications.
- Ability to characterize material machinability, tool handling, tool cutter presentation, and selection of appropriate coolants for CNC.
- The ability to read, write and speak the English language with comprehension skills sufficient to understand safety standards and job performance expectations.
- Above-average ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Ability to interpret instructions which may be furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand; use hands to feel, handle, or grab; reach, pull, push, and lift with hands and arms; walk, stoop, kneel, crouch and reach. Some sitting may be required.
- The employee is frequently required to lift 10 pounds and/or move 50 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus. The employee is required to wear safety-toe shoes/boots and other personal protective equipment.
- While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts, oils, or other cutting fluids.
- The noise level in the environment is loud.
