Middle School Science Teacher

JOB TITLE: Middle School Science Teacher (1.0 FTE)

REPORTS TO: Building Principal

JOB SUMMARY:

To provide education services to students in a classroom setting. The teacher is responsible for student academic achievement, including instruction and maintaining student discipline. Full job description available upon request.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor’s Degree or higher.

• Hold or be eligible for Oregon Teaching Certification with Middle School Level authorization and endorsements in middle school science.
• Ability to establish positive working relationships with students, staff, and parents.
• Willingness to work with extra-curricular activities.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Master’s degree.
• Additional ESOL endorsement and/or Sheltered Instruction training.
• Experience working in professional learning communities.
• Knowledge of P.B.I.S.
• Spanish language skills.

SUMMARY OF ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Implement adopted science curriculum and develop supplemental instructional materials that are aligned to grade level standards and suitable for students with a wide range of mental, physical, and emotional maturities.
• Use data to inform instruction, evaluate academic growth, and monitor student progress on grade level standards. Maintain appropriate records.
• Actively engage in curriculum and/or faculty committees as interested or required.

• Work collaboratively with other staff members to support student learning.
• Establish and maintain open lines of communication with students and their parents concerning academic and behavioral progress of student.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 190-Day Contract at 1.0 FTE. Based on current SEA salary schedule and negotiated agreement ($51,826-$105,207 annually) with excellent benefits including Medical, Dental and Vision insurance and Oregon state retirement. Paid time off includes one sick day per month worked and three personal days, pro-rated per school year. Benefit information can be found at https://www.seasidek12.org/benefits. Open until filled.
