Push Boat / Barge Captain
Type: Full-time Location: Boynton Beach, FL (jobsites throughout Palm Beach & Broward counties) Pay: $25–$35/hr, based on experience
The role: We need an experienced Captain, to safely operate our push boat and move our 70' crane spud barge to and from job sites throughout Palm Beach and Broward counties. This is a hands-on position — once the barge is on site, the captain works alongside the crew as a deckhand, helping with pile driving and seawall installation.
What you'll do:
- Operate the push boat to move and position our 70' crane spud barge
- Set and pull spuds and hold the barge on station during operations
- Navigate local waterways, inlets, and canals in Palm Beach and Broward counties
- Work as a deckhand on the barge at the jobsite
- Assist with pile driving and seawall installation
- Rig, handle lines, and help stage materials and equipment
- Daily checks and routine maintenance on the push boat and barge
Requirements:
- Proven experience pushing/operating a spud barge (70' crane spud barge preferred)
- Solid boat-handling skills in local waterways and tight canals
- Willing to work the deck and pitch in on pile driving and seawall work
- Strong work ethic, reliable, team player
- Valid driver's license
- Able to work outdoors and perform physical labor
- Preferred, not necessary: TWIC card, USCG license, prior marine construction experience
