Position Summary
The Driver's primary responsibility is to safely and efficiently transport patients. Driver will ensure the safety of passengers with severe physical, mental, or developmental problems while in vehicle. They may also be involved in maintaining the vehicle, ensuring patient comfort and safety during transport, and documenting all relevant information. The Driver is responsible for direct and indirect patient care.
Driver Requirements: Chauffeur's license. Eye exam. State of Louisiana defensive driving course. Clean driving record.
Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
Work experience: A minimum of 1 to 3 years of driving experience within a healthcare facility. 3 to 5 years of driving experience preferred.
Interpersonal Skills: Customer service skills. Communication. Patience. Attention to detail. Time management skills are necessary.
Travel Requirements: Frequent.
Essential Job Duties
Assists clients on/off van. Transport clients to and from their destinations. Assists clients in moving, sitting, ambulating, if needed.
Practice proper vehicle safety, lifting, and seat-belt wearing.
Safely operate vehicle to transport patients to and from each destination.
Conduct routine vehicle check, reporting any maintenance needs, and keeping the vehicle clean and organized.
Maintain accurate records of all trips, mileage, and any incidents or issues encountered.
Adhere to all relevant traffics laws, safety protocols, and healthcare regulations (like HIPAA).
