Duties
- Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments, setting up dental tools, and ensuring all equipment is functioning correctly according to infection control protocols.
- Assist dentists during various procedures such as cleanings, restorations, endodontics, prosthodontics, and oral surgery with precision and professionalism.
- Take and develop dental X-rays and medical imaging, including 3D scans, while maintaining strict adherence to HIPAA regulations for patient privacy.
- Manage patient records using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems like Dentrix or Eaglesoft, ensuring accurate documentation of medical history, vital signs, and treatment details.
- Provide chairside assistance by handing instruments, suctioning, and monitoring patient comfort throughout procedures.
- Educate patients on post-treatment care, dental terminology, and oral hygiene practices to promote long-term dental health.
- Support the dental reception team by scheduling appointments, verifying insurance information, and managing medical documentation efficiently.
Requirements
- Proven experience working in a dental clinic environment with knowledge of general dentistry procedures.
- Proficiency in dental assisting techniques including aseptic technique, infection control, anatomy knowledge, and chairside assisting skills.
- Familiarity with EMR systems such as Dentrix or Eaglesoft; experience with Epic or similar medical documentation platforms is a plus.
- Ability to perform X-ray procedures accurately while maintaining safety standards; certification in radiography preferred.
- Strong understanding of dental terminology, medical terminology, and medical coding related to dental records.
- Knowledge of pediatric dentistry practices and experience assisting with pediatric patients is highly desirable.
- Excellent communication skills as a dental receptionist or front desk assistant; ability to handle patient inquiries professionally.
- Ability to work effectively in a team using four-handed dentistry techniques to optimize workflow efficiency.
