Legal Assistant

We are partnered with a busy personal injury law firm seeking a detail-oriented Legal Assistant / Case Manager to join their midtown team. This role conducts factual research and handles vital administrative tasks, but no prior law firm experience is required - we are looking for empathetic administrative professionals with strong customer service backgrounds who are eager to learn.

This is a permanent, full-time position, fully onsite at the firm’s midtown office with a starting pay rate of $16-18/hr.

Responsibilities

• Case Management: Research and document facts, investigate case details, and maintain up-to-date activity logs in the case management software.
• Client & Insurance Interaction: Conduct client interviews, handle insurance inquiries under attorney supervision, and communicate professionally with clients during sensitive situations.
• Document Handling: Gather, review, and verify medical bills and records for accuracy; prepare affidavits and maintain precise electronic document files.
• Administrative Support: Perform day-to-day office tasks, file correspondence, and anticipate team needs to ensure smooth daily operations.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma (or equivalent) and 1-2 years of experience in customer service, retail, sales, or administrative/legal support.
• Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and able to learn specialized software
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with a focus on empathy, active listening, and client care.
• Strong organization, thoroughness, problem-solving skills, and a proactive mindset to anticipate case needs.
• Knowledge of personal injury law or insurance industry practices is a plus, but not required.
• Must pass a background check and drug screen.
