Role Overview
Our client is seeking a hands-on Senior Embedded Systems Engineer with strong experience across both firmware and hardware development. This individual will play a key role in taking a complex, regulated device from advanced prototyping through production and market launch.
As part of a small, highly collaborative team, this role offers significant ownership over system architecture, design decisions, and execution across the full product development lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain embedded firmware for microcontroller-based systems
- Lead and support hardware development, including schematics, PCB layout, bring-up, and testing
- Drive product execution from early prototypes through manufacturing-ready designs
- Collaborate cross-functionally with mechanical, clinical, and regulatory teams
- Ensure designs align with applicable safety, quality, and regulatory standards
- Support verification, validation, and compliance testing activities
- Take ownership of complex technical challenges from concept through deployment
Required Background
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field
- Proven experience delivering embedded hardware products to market
- Strong embedded programming skills (C/C or similar)
- Extensive hands-on hardware design experience, including PCB layout and system bring-up
- Proficiency with professional PCB design tools
- Ability to work on-site in a collaborative startup environment
- 5 years of relevant industry experience
Nice to Have
- Experience working within regulated medical device environments
- Background in wearable, low-power, or biomedical devices
- Experience designing custom test fixtures or validation equipment
