Senior Accountant

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to join the finance team of a large, established manufacturing operation in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. This position will play an important role in plant accounting, cost accounting, financial analysis, and supporting the broader operation.

Key Responsibilities

• Support day-to-day plant accounting and financial activities within a high-volume manufacturing environment.
• Perform cost accounting and analyze manufacturing costs, operational performance, and financial variances.
• Support month-end close, reconciliations, reporting, and general accounting activities.
• Partner with operations and other departments to understand financial performance and identify areas for improvement.
• Provide financial analysis and insights to support business and operational decisions.
• Assist with inventory-related accounting and financial controls.
• Maintain accurate accounting records and ensure compliance with established policies and procedures.
• Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, reporting, and overall efficiency.
• Support future ERP and technology changes as the organization continues to modernize its systems.
• Develop the leadership capabilities necessary to progress into an Accounting Manager position.

Qualifications

• 5 years of accounting experience.
• Manufacturing accounting experience required.
• Strong background in cost accounting and/or plant accounting.
• Solid understanding of accounting principles, financial reporting, reconciliations, and month-end processes.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
• Ability to work effectively with both accounting and operational teams.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to learn unfamiliar systems and adapt to changing technology.
• Must be comfortable working fully onsite in Tuscaloosa, AL.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous leadership, supervisory, or team-lead experience.
• Experience with SAP and/or Oracle.
• Experience participating in an ERP implementation, conversion, or system modernization initiative.
• Experience working within a large industrial or manufacturing operation.
• Demonstrated interest and ability to progress into accounting leadership.
