JOB TITLE: Lighting Designer 

LOCATION: Culver City, CA and Project Sites 

REPORTS TO: Senior Staff 

CLASSIFICATION: Full-Time, Exempt 

COMPENSATION: $71,000 – $92,000 annually, commensurate with experience

SUMMARY 

The Lighting Designer plays a key role within the studio, contributing to the delivery of high-quality lighting design work while supporting project performance, collaboration, and client relationships. 

 

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Support concept, schematic, and design development phases 
  • Produce lighting plans, layouts, and technical documentation 
  • Create renderings and visual materials to communicate design intent 
  • Perform photometric calculations and assist with analysis 
  • Prepare fixture schedules and specification packages 
  • Coordinate with internal teams and consultants under guidance 
  • Participate in meetings, site visits, and field verification 
  • Maintain organized project files and documentation 
  • Assist with construction administration tasks as directed 
  • Contribute to internal design discussions and reviews

  • 75–85% billable utilization 
  • Complete tasks within budgeted hours in 90% of cases 
  • Produce accurate, coordinated documentation 
  • Demonstrate consistent growth in design and technical skills 
  • Contribute to team workflow and project delivery 

  • QUALIFICATIONS 

    • Bachelor’s degree in Lighting Design, Architecture, Interior Design, or a related field. 
    • 0–3 years of relevant professional experience. 
    • Proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, and Adobe Creative Suite; familiarity with AGi32 or DIALux preferred. 
    • Strong graphic, visualization, and organizational skills. 
    • Foundational understanding of lighting design principles and construction documentation.
