Tax Staff Accountant

Job Description

Sean K Butler, CPA, LLC is a boutique CPA firm located in west Houston. We are a small growing CPA firm in Energy Corridor offering tax and bookkeeping services to a wide variety of clients. We prepare individual, corporate, estate & trust returns. The firm strives to provide excellent customer service to the clients we serve.

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Prepare and examine accounting records, financial statements, taxes, and other financial reports
• Conduct tax compliance activities, preparing assigned Federal and State corporate, partnership and individual returns
• Work on special projects as identified by management
• Complete bookkeeping/accounting for preparation of financial statements and business tax returns
• Clearly/coherently communicate with clients in order to gather necessary information to complete tax returns and financial statements
• Report analysis and findings to management team
• Ability to act and operate independently with minimal daily direction from supervisor to complete tasks/workload both accurately and timely
  
  

Qualifications:

• Recent and relevant accounting experience (minimum of 1 year of experience)
• Experience with Quickbooks desktop and online versions
• Must know and understand debits and credits
• Ability to effectively present information, communicate with, and respond to questions from management and clients
• Experience with Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel
• Detail and deadline-oriented
• Strong analytical and problem solving skills
• At a minimum, must have an associate's degree in accounting or related field and a strong aptitude for accounting. Preferably a 4 year degree in accounting
  
  

Work Environment:

• Sedentary work
• Will use some repetitive motion of hand-wrist in using computer and writing
• Works in a typical office setting
• Emotional stability and personal maturity are important attributes in this position
• Must handle stressful, urgent, novel and diverse work situations on a daily basis
• May require long hours and odd schedules (including weekends)
• Attendance and punctuality is essential for success in this position
