Seaman Corporation is seeking a Quality Control Lab Technician join our Operations team on Night shift! This position will report to the Quality Control Supervisor in Wooster, OH.
As of March 1, 2026, we will transition to a 24/7 rotation with a 4:3 schedule. Must be able to work within that schedule. Day shift will be 7a-7p; night shift will be 7p-7a
POSITION SUMMARY
The Quality Control Lab Technician will be responsible for the safe, smooth, and efficient operation of the QC Lab, during shift. Tests and inspects materials at various stages of the production process to ensure end product meets or exceeds customer requirements. Will assist and take direction from the QC Supervisor to ensure all areas of responsibility run efficiently.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Promote safety and safety awareness by following posted safety and security procedures; log at least 1 safety program participation point a month to ensure awareness and engagement with the safety program; must respond quickly to emergencies in order to prevent injury and damage to personnel and equipment; ensure standard operating procedures are followed, monitored; ensure adherence to company policy and regulations.
- Have a good understanding of standard product fabrics; comprehend and interpret product specifications; log and compile data reports and evaluate results to ensure quality and product reliability, using experience and intuition.
- Perform and verify physical testing of product at specified stages in the production process, as specified in the lab specification. Testing may include operation of a tensiometer, thickness gauge, scale, flame chamber, radiofrequency welder, hot air welder, gloss meter, ruler, colorimeter, die press, oven, heated water bath, and other equipment as assigned.
- Alert appropriate Line personnel of test results in a timely manner; notify supervisor promptly of unresolved problems or when testing equipment malfunctions occur.
- Maintain quality control documentation; interpret shipping priority list and coordinate daily product testing; work efficiently with Inspection and Shipping Departments to handle special orders and instructions and ensure timely shipment of product to customer.
- Utilize Oracle programs to enter and maintain product information, such as Lab Release, Shipment Priority Report, and Inspection Report; use Lab Tracker to log data for coating process, inspection, and R&D; Map 4.0 software for Thwing Albert tensiometer; use EasyMatchQC software for the HunterLab colorimeter; utilize Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word to maintain database, reports, etc.; scan paper records and store electronically.
- Participate in and promote Corporate Lean Sigma Initiative by actively participating in Kaizen Events; ensure 5S is completed according to schedule; maintain a clean, organized work area.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
- Recommended minimum one year related experience and/or training: or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Ability to frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include Close vision and Color vision.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- To perform this job successfully, an individual should have basic computer knowledge for Oracle lab release and manufacturing software, Lab Tracker, tensile tester, colorimeter, Excel spreadsheets and Word documents, file management, and have the ability to complete online training programs as required.
