Position Overview:
Sealing Technologies, a Parsons Company, is seeking an R&D Systems Engineer to support internal product development efforts across software, hardware, and test validation work. This position is ideal for a technical engineer who is comfortable working hands-on with systems, writing basic scripts, and learning how to test and validate new capabilities in a fast-paced engineering environment. As an R&D Systems Engineer, you will contribute to the development, testing, and validation of SealingTech’s hardware and software products.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Contribute to the development and maintenance of automated QA test suites for internal product lines.
- Assist in refactoring or rebuilding scripts (e.g., Bash, Python) under senior engineer guidance.
- Help build smaller-scale test suites for targeted hardware systems such as microservers or edge compute devices.
- Support the development of basic tools to generate, capture, and analyze network traffic using monitoring frameworks.
- Learn to use network analysis tools such as Zeek, Suricata, or similar technologies.
- Perform hands-on testing of hardware components, modules, and integrated systems.
- Validate functionality, reliability, and performance of prototype and production hardware.
- Document issues, anomalies, and test findings with clarity and accuracy.
- Provide basic troubleshooting for hardware, software, or configuration issues.
Minimum Qualifications:
- U.S. Citizenship.
- 1 -3 years of related experience (internships, projects, or lab experience acceptable).
- Ability to support pre-existing-built environments using existing documentation.
- Basic knowledge of Linux , command-line usage, and system fundamentals.
- Familiarity with foundational infrastructure concepts (DNS, NTP, LDAP).
- Basic scripting and programming knowledge (Python, Bash, Shell).
- Ability to troubleshoot entry-level system or hardware issues.
- Meets DoD 8570 IAT Level I requirements or able to obtain within 6 months.
- Strong communication skills and willingness to learn from senior engineers.
- Ability to lift 50 lbs and work in lab environments when required.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Hands-on experience with hardware testing, lab equipment, or system building.
- Exposure to network traffic analysis tools, lab networking, or packet capture frameworks.
- Advanced linux knowledge/system administration
- Experience contributing to test automation or QA scripting.
- Familiarity with cybersecurity tools (Zeek, Suricata) or virtualized environments (VMware, KVM).
- Any DoD or defense-related internship/project experience
- Experience with writing test plans, procedures, and acceptance criteria
Salary : $63,000 - $100,000
