Job Description
Position Overview
The Engineering Intern will be an opportunity to complete several key projects in a local injection molding facility for an international manufacturer. This role will partner with the Management, Engineering, Production, Quality Toolroom and Maintenance Teams.
Pay Rate: $24/hr
Essential Functions & Responsibilities
- Coordinate and assist with multiple assembly machine, injection molding press, ancillary equipment and facility improvements to occasionally include light fabrication tasks
- Assist with safety and PPE signage in manufacturing operations
- Create and edit work instructions including, as needed, video instructions for various technical tasks
- Assist with and coordinate 5S work area improvements
- Assist with preventative maintenance planning for equipment, including setup and maintenance of a CMMS (computerized maintenance management system)
- Update facility drawings and create PDFs in Draftsight
- Create customized training modules for online safety training resource
- Optimize Toolroom and Maintenance Shop parts inventory systems
- Light fabrication of equipment enclosures, including mounting of instrumentation and some wiring work
- Design quality and test fixtures in CREO and 3D print
- Participate in safety audits, update safety work instructions
- Participate in training programs and advocate for proactive safety actions
- Other duties as directed

Qualifications
Education
- High school Diploma, GED or equivalent experience
Experience
- Progression in collegiate program preferably in manufacturing, mechanical or industrial engineering
- Prefer candidate to have completed basic engineering processes, engineering mechanics and 2D/3D CAD sections of their education.
Specific skills
- Effective verbal, written and interpersonal skills are required
- Ability to walk, climb steps and stand in place for several hours throughout the course of the day
- Ability to lift up to 60 pounds
Equipment/machinery experience and skills
- Familiarity with using hand tools, small power tools preferred
Preferred Computer experience
- CAD skills (CREO, SolidWorks, Draftsight or KeyCreator preferred)
- Video editing skills preferred
- Advanced computer skills to include Outlook, Excel, Word, Teams and PowerPoint (MS Access preferred)
