Job Title: Health & Safety Intern

Location: Signal Hill, CA

Job Summary:
Gregg Drilling is a subsidiary of Woocheen committed to sustainably protecting the environment through site investigation across California. Gregg offers a wide range of services for environmental, geotechnical and marine site investigation and remediation.

As the Health & Safety (H&S) Intern, you will have the opportunity to assist in modernizing and digitizing our safety management documentation. This project will focus on reviewing, updating, and transitioning existing H&S materials into a digital platform to improve accessibility, compliance, and field usability. You will work directly with the Regional Health & Safety Manger and gain hands-on experience while helping to strengthen safety systems, document management, and overall compliance with current industry standards.

Duties/Responsibilities:
•    Review and assess existing Health & Safety documentation, including policies, procedures, forms, checklists, and records.
•    Update and standardize all H&S documents to align with current regulatory and company requirements.
•    Digitize and upload approved materials into a digital platform, ensuring logical organization and accessibility for both office and field teams.
•    Assist in testing and verifying that the digital platform operates effectively across devices and locations.
•    Support training and implementation of the updated system for employees and supervisors.

Possible Projects/Deliverables:
•    Complete an audit and index of all H&S documents
•    Update and standardize key safety policies, procedures, and forms
•    Transition approved materials over to new digital platform
•    Produce a summary report outlining progress, outcomes, and recommendations for continued improvement

Required Skills/Abilities: 
•    Organized, detail-oriented, and capable of managing confidential information
•    Able to both collaborate with a team and work independently
•    Familiar with digital documentation systems or eager to learn new software.
•    Comfortable working collaboratively with both field and office teams.
•    Must be a Sealaska shareholder, descendant of a shareholder, or spouse of a shareholder

Education and Experience: 
•    Must be 18 years old at time of hire
•    Must be currently enrolled in post-secondary school/program or a recent graduate (1-2 years) 
•    Legally authorized to work in the United States

Preferred:
•    A student or recent graduate in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, or a related discipline
•    At least a 2.5 GPA
•    Strong critical thinking and research skills
•    Self-starter with ability to adapt to a fast-paced work environment

Physical Demands: 
•    Must be able to perform computer-based tasks and processing for up to 8 hours, including sitting or standing, mousing, interacting with information on a computer monitor.
•    Must be able to lift and carry or otherwise move 25 pounds regularly.
•    Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. 
•    Bending or standing as necessary.
•    Walking, hiking and paddling. 

Work Environment: 
•    While performing the duties of this job, the employee will primarily work in an office setting. The noise level in the work environment is usually minimal.
