Job Title: Environmental Health & Safety Professional

Job Summary:
The ES&H Professional develops program level strategies, is client facing and field oriented, performing as lead H&S consultant onsite for groundwater monitoring, well drilling, surface water monitoring, and stormwater corrective actions. The ideal candidate will be an outdoor enthusiast passionate about keeping employees safe while achieving project objectives. The ES&H Professional will ensure all activities and operations are performed in a safe and deliberate manner; will maintain required safety, security, and operational training; assure procedural and regulatory compliance; and make safety and security an integral part of every task; including taking the necessary steps to stop work if continuing the job is unsafe or compromises security.

Duties/Responsivities: 
•    Developing and implementing safety program policies and procedures.
•    Conducting site investigations and inspections, monitoring airborne chemicals, and confirming compliance with the safety program. Inspections often include night and weekend site visits.
•    Performing complex professional tasks independently with little instruction, while also working in a team-oriented project environment.
•    Providing corrective action recommendations to address risk, changing conditions and promote continuous improvement.
•    Training employees on the safety program.
•    Communicating effectively with the Water Program team and externally with clients.
•    Analyzing data and providing reports as needed.
•    Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
•    REQUIRED: Bachelor's degree and 5-10 years’ industrial hygiene and construction safety experience, combined with CHP, CIH, CSP or HWMM certification.
•    Experience developing, evaluating, and implementing site specific H&S programs, training, policy, and practices.
•    OSHA 30 Training
•    Collection and monitoring of airborne chemicals experience.
•    Experience communicating effectively and professionally at all levels, from senior leadership to more junior staff both internally and with clients.
•    Interest in consulting at the program level while also performing fieldwork involving difficult walking terrain, rafting trips to take samples, etc.
•    A pre-employment drug screen in compliance with federal regulations is required, along with a physical if needed.
•    Must possess a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record without restriction and US citizenship is required.
•    Ability to communicate effectively at the highest levels
•    Ability to train and mentor more junior staff
•    Experienced and skill to conduct research, investigate alternative solutions and recommend needed change
•    Level of language skills, mathematical skills, communication skills, reasoning ability and computer skills necessary to perform essential functions of the job
•    Ability to work in a team-oriented project environment
•    Familiarity with the LANL site and work environment preferred

Preferred Qualifications:
•    Industrial hygiene and construction safety experience involving drilling, piping, and cranes.
•    Experience in a government project workspace, preferably with DOE, Navy, USACE etc.
•    Environmental remediation project experience a plus but not required.

Physical Demands:
Light Work Category - Physical demand requirements are in excess of those for sedentary work. The employee exerts up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.  The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to handle or feel and reach with hands and arms.  The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and distance vision.
General:
•    In this position the qualified candidate may support one of more of the following departments, Groundwater Monitoring, Surface Water Monitoring, Drilling, Storm Water Corrective Actions, and/or Remediation Services.
•    The qualified candidate may be required to attain and maintain a DOE Q clearance.
•    Individuals must be able to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodation.
•    Individual must pass a pre-employment drug screen and accept all company policies. This position may require a physical fit-for-duty screen as well,
•    Some lifting of files, opening cabinets. 
•    Bending or standing as necessary.

Salary : $90,000 - $100,000
