Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the review of complex business tax returns, including Forms 1120, 1120S, 1065, and select high-net-worth 1040s, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely delivery.
- Oversee tax provisions, consolidated returns, multi-state filings, and ASC 740 reporting requirements.
- Provide technical guidance on partnership basis adjustments and complex tax matters, including reorganizations, mergers, liquidating distributions, and corporate issues involving Sections 382/383 and E&P.
- Conduct tax due diligence for buy-side and sell-side M&A transactions, identifying risks and opportunities.
- Manage and strengthen long-term client relationships through proactive communication, issue resolution, and strategic tax planning support.
- Supervise and mentor project teams, providing constructive feedback and fostering a collaborative, knowledge-sharing environment.
- Ensure engagement profitability through effective project oversight, workflow management, and monitoring accounts receivable.
- Maintain compliance with regulatory changes and industry standards while promoting adoption of new technology and process improvements.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities
- Review business, consolidated, and multi-state tax returns prepared by staff, ensuring accuracy and compliance with federal and state regulations.
- Research and resolve complex tax issues, documenting findings and advising both internal teams and clients.
- Oversee daily team workflow, providing direction, reviewing work products, and ensuring milestones and deadlines are met.
- Support clients with ongoing tax planning, projections, and responses to tax authority inquiries.
- Lead discussions with clients to clarify deliverables, address concerns, and identify additional areas where tax guidance may be needed.
- Review ASC 740 calculations and supporting workpapers.
- Perform due diligence procedures for active M&A engagements and prepare written findings for client review.
- Coordinate with internal accounting, audit, and advisory teams to ensure alignment on client objectives and deliverables.
- Utilize tax software platforms (preferably CCH Axcess & Engagement) and MS Office applications to manage workflow in a fully paperless environment.
- Monitor engagement budgets, track progress against timelines, and support timely collection of accounts receivable.
Preferred Experience & Attributes
- Active CPA license required.
- Minimum of 7 years of recent public accounting experience, including at least 1 year in a Senior Manager capacity.
- Proven experience reviewing—not just preparing—complex business returns, consolidated filings, multi-state returns, ASC 740 requirements, and partnership basis adjustments.
- Experience conducting both buy-side and sell-side tax due diligence; thorough understanding of taxable and nontaxable transactions, reorganizations, mergers, Sections 382/383, E&P, and liquidating distributions.
- Familiarity with foreign reporting forms (5471, 5472, 8865, FBAR, 1042) is preferred.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to give and receive clear, constructive feedback.

Salary : $160,000 - $190,000
