Job Title: Infant Toddler Caregiver
Job Overview:
The Infant Toddler Caregiver will support the Lead Caregiver in providing a safe, nurturing, and engaging environment for young children. This role is responsible for assisting in planning, preparing, and delivering age-appropriate activities, maintaining classroom order, and ensuring the emotional and developmental needs of the children are met. The Infant Toddler Caregiver will work closely with the Lead Caregiver.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain NAEYC Accreditation Standards and practices.
- Comply with DHS Child Care Licensing Hawaii Administrative Rules.
- Work with individuals or small groups of children as directed by the lead caregiver.
- Assist the lead caregiver in planning and implementing educational activities, lessons, and materials.
- Assist in assessing and documenting student progress and behavior.
- Provide physical care such as feeding, diapering, and nap-time support.
- Monitor student behavior and enforce school policies to promote a safe and respectful learning environment.
- Communicate effectively with students, teachers, and parents to support learning objectives.
- Help maintain classroom organization and cleanliness such as cleaning, sanitizing, and managing supplies and resources.
- Conduct yourself in an appropriate manner when dealing with children, other staff or parents, or during school activities on or off campus.
- Be sensitive and responsive to children's needs.
- Use positive modeling and behavior management.
- Follow school policies and procedures (maintain confidentiality).
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Meet State childcare licensing requirements for infant toddler caregivers:
- Option 1: High School Diploma/Equivalent, 12 credits approved early childhood courses; 30 hours approved infant/toddler training, and 12 months full time experience working with children under 36 months in a licensed group care setting.
- Option 2: High School Diploma/Equivalent, 30 hours approved infant/toddler training, and 24 months full time experience working with children under 36 months in a licensed group care setting.
- Option 3: No High School, 30 hours approved infant/toddler training, and 36 months full time experience working with children under 36 months in a licensed group care setting.
- Must meet state licensing requirements (Medical, TB, and criminal history clearance).
- Able to lift up to 35 lbs.
- CPR/First Aid certification.
