Part-time School Crossing Guard

The City of Seagoville is seeking dependable, safety-conscious individuals to serve as School Crossing Guards. This position plays an important role in ensuring the safe passage of children to and from school at designated crossings.

School Crossing Guards direct and maintain safe crossing conditions for pedestrian children traveling to and from school. Crossing Guards work closely with motorists, pedestrians, and school-aged children to promote safety and ensure compliance with crossing regulations.

• Monday through Friday, while school is in session
• Morning shift: 7:15 a.m. – 8:15 a.m.
• Afternoon shift: 2:45 p.m. – 3:45 p.m.
• Total of 2 hours per day

Work is not performed during summer months, weekends, or school holidays.

• Direct the flow of traffic to allow children safe passage at designated school crossings.
• Assist children in crossing streets safely.
• Monitor crossing areas and report unsafe conditions or concerns to the Police Department.
• Maintain and enforce prescribed rules and regulations pertaining to school crossings.
• Remain highly visible to pedestrians and motorists during all work assignments.
• Promote a safe and positive environment for students, families, and the community.

• Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
• Strong sense of responsibility and commitment to public safety.
• Ability to interact courteously and effectively with children, parents, school personnel, and the public.
• Dependable attendance and punctuality.
• Minimum eighth (8) grade education.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Three (3) to six (6) months experience in traffic direction preferred but not required
• Bilingual preferred but not required.
