Marine Service Technician — Seager Marine, Rushford, NY
Seager Marine is hiring a seasonal (April - November) Service Technician at our Rushford Lake location. We service Mercury, Yamaha, Honda, Volvo Penta, and PCM, so you'll see a wide variety of platforms across outboards, sterndrives, and inboards. We're willing to train the right person; what we can't teach is mechanical aptitude and a strong work ethic.
Reports to: Service Manager
What you'll do:
- Diagnose, service, and repair outboard, sterndrive, and inboard engines (Mercury, Yamaha, Honda, Volvo Penta, PCM)
- Service onboard systems — electrical, fuel, steering, controls, plumbing
- Perform spring commissioning, winterization, and routine maintenance
- Rig new boats and install accessories
- Run water tests and sea trials on Canandaigua Lake
- Document all work accurately in our service management system
- Keep the shop and your bay clean, organized, and safe
What we're looking for:
- Strong mechanical aptitude — automotive, small engine, powersports, diesel, or marine experience all translate
- Comfort with hand tools and willingness to learn manufacturer diagnostic software (Mercury CDS G3, Yamaha YDIS, Volvo VODIA, etc.)
- High school diploma or equivalent; marine technical training (ABYC, Mercury University, Yamaha Marine University) is a plus but not required
- Valid NYS driver's license and clean driving record (you'll occasionally tow)
- Able to lift 50 lbs, work in tight engine compartments, and stand for extended periods
- Comfort on the water and basic boating skills helpful (we can get you there)
- A customer-first attitude — boats are how our customers spend their best days, and we treat that seriously
Pay & benefits:
