Job Overview
We are seeking a professional and organized Medical Receptionist to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will serve as the first point of contact for patients, providing exceptional customer service while managing administrative tasks efficiently. This role requires a strong understanding of medical office procedures, EMR systems, and healthcare documentation to ensure smooth clinic operations and patient satisfaction.
Duties
- Greet patients and visitors with professionalism and courtesy, ensuring a positive first impression
- Manage patient check-in and check-out processes, including appointment scheduling and rescheduling using EMR systems such as Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, eClinicalWorks, Dentrix, and Eaglesoft
- Verify insurance coverage and perform insurance eligibility verification
- Collect payments and process medical billing and collections accurately
- Review and update patient medical records, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations
- Assist with documentation review, coding (CPT, ICD-10), and accurate data entry for billing purposes
- Handle multi-line phone systems with excellent phone etiquette to address patient inquiries and appointment requests
- Maintain organized filing of medical records and administrative documents
- Support clinic operations through clerical tasks such as data entry, typing (including 10 key typing), and document management using Microsoft Office tools
- Ensure compliance with health information management standards and maintain confidentiality of patient information
Requirements
- Proven experience in a medical office setting or healthcare environment, including front desk or administrative support roles (minimal of 3 years)
- Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, eClinicalWorks, Dentrix, Eaglesoft, or similar platforms
- Knowledge of medical terminology, CPT coding, ICD coding (ICD-9/ICD-10), Medicare procedures, and insurance verification processes
- Strong computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and health information management software
- Excellent communication skills with professional phone etiquette; bilingual abilities are a plus
- Ability to handle sensitive patient information in accordance with HIPAA regulations
- Experience in dental or clinic settings is preferred; clinic or hospital experience is advantageous
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail in documentation review and data entry
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining accuracy and professionalism
