Overview
We are seeking a friendly and detail-oriented Cashier/Customer Service Associate to join our retail team. This role is essential in providing exceptional service to our customers, ensuring smooth transactions, and maintaining a welcoming shopping environment. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills, be proficient in POS systems, and have a passion for delivering outstanding customer experiences. Bilingual abilities and prior retail or grocery store experience are highly valued.

Duties

  • Operate POS systems efficiently to process sales transactions accurately and quickly
  • Greet customers warmly and assist with their inquiries or needs
  • Handle cash, credit, and other payment methods with precision and integrity
  • Upsell products and promote store specials to enhance sales opportunities
  • Conduct product demos when applicable to educate customers about merchandise
  • Maintain merchandising standards by stocking shelves, organizing displays, and ensuring product availability
  • Assist with inventory management including stock replenishment and inventory counts
  • Provide excellent customer service by addressing concerns, resolving issues, and ensuring customer satisfaction
  • Support in store cleaning, organizing, and general upkeep to create a pleasant shopping environment
  • Supervise or assist less experienced team members when needed

Skills

  • Proficiency with POS systems and cash handling procedures
  • Strong communication skills, including phone etiquette and active listening
  • Ability to perform basic math calculations for transactions and retail math tasks
  • Experience in retail sales, upselling, merchandising, and stock management
  • Bilingual abilities are a plus for serving diverse customer bases effectively
  • Supervising experience is beneficial for leadership roles within the team
  • Knowledge of grocery store operations or familiarity with retail environments enhances performance
  • Excellent customer service skills with a friendly, approachable demeanor
  • Ability to multitask efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail
