Reporting to the Vice President, Operations & VES, the Director, Materials is responsible for leading Sea‑Bird’s materials strategy across planning, procurement, supplier management, and inventory optimization. This role owns the Planning, Sales, and Inventory (PSI) process and drives continuous improvement to ensure high On‑Time Delivery (OTD), supply continuity, and cost productivity.
The Director, Materials operates with a high degree of autonomy while serving as a people leader, strategic partner, and change agent—developing talent, strengthening supplier partnerships, and aligning materials strategy with Sea‑Bird and Veralto objectives.
This position is part of the Operations organization and is located in Bellevue, WA, with an on-site work arrangement.
In this role, a typical day will look like:
- Leading the Planning, Sales, and Inventory (PSI) process to balance demand, supply, and inventory targets.
- Driving continuous improvement of planning and procurement processes to achieve and sustain high On‑Time Delivery (OTD).
- Coaching, mentoring, and developing a high‑performing materials and procurement team.
- Serving as a key member of the operations leadership team, contributing to enterprise strategy and execution.
- Establishing standards to meet inventory targets, PFEP objectives, and the reduction of aged inventory.
- Negotiating and managing global supplier agreements to improve quality, delivery, cost, and innovation (QDCI).
- Leading supplier consolidation initiatives and reducing reliance on sole or single‑source suppliers.
- Partnering with Corporate Purchasing and Commodity Leaders to leverage scale and enterprise sourcing strategies.
- Conducting business reviews with key suppliers to assess performance, development, and growth opportunities.
- Deploying Veralto supply base management practices with a focus on supplier risk management and supply interruption mitigation.
- Leading annual VAVE initiatives and material cost productivity programs aligned with Veralto KPI standards.
The essential requirements of the job include:
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Operations, Engineering, Business or a related field required.
- 10 years of experience in purchasing and/or supply chain management in a manufacturing operations setting.
- At least 5 years of experience leading and developing teams, including direct people management responsibility in a materials, procurement, or supply chain function.
- Experience developing and executing global sourcing strategies, including low-cost region (LCR) sourcing.
- Demonstrated experience negotiating and managing global supplier agreements.
- Experience leading planning, inventory, and cost productivity initiatives.
It would be nice if you also possess:
- Master’s in Business Administration
- Lean manufacturing and/or Six Sigma experience

The below range reflects the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range. This range may be modified in the future. An associate’s position within the salary range will be based on several factors, including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, shift, travel requirements, sales or revenue-based metrics, any collective bargaining agreements, and business or organizational needs.
The compensation range for this role is $160,000.00 - $200,000.00 USD per year.We offer a comprehensive package of benefits including paid time off, medical/dental/vision insurance and 401(k) to eligible employees.
