Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented Accounting Specialist for a dynamic, fast-paced role supporting our Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable operations. This position will work closely with and assist the Director of Finance on daily accounting tasks, reconciliations, credit reviews, deadlines, and special projects.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys digging into financial details, resolving discrepancies, and keeping multiple accounting processes running smoothly in a high-activity environment. The Accounting Specialist will process payments, reconcile accounts, review orders for credit approval, and support month-end close and audit activities.

Key Responsibilities:
General Accounting Support

• Provides dependable support to the Director of Finance and the accounting team through reconciliations, account research, and meeting reporting deadlines.
• Assists with month-end close by preparing and reviewing transactions, ensuring accuracy, and maintaining organized, audit-ready financial records.
• Prepares documentation for internal and external audits and conducts basic GAAP research to confirm appropriate accounting treatment.
• Identifies opportunities to improve processes, strengthen internal controls, and enhance overall accuracy in a dynamic environment.
• Performs additional duties as needed to support departmental priorities.

• Provides reliable support across AR, credit, and AP activities to help keep day-to-day financial operations running smoothly.
• Posts customer payments accurately, reviews aging, follows up on overdue accounts, and works with customers, Sales, and the internal team to resolve discrepancies and support collections.
• Reviews incoming orders for credit approval by assessing limits, payment history, and account status, and determines whether orders should be released, held, or escalated.
• Supports AP by processing and reconciling vendor invoices, purchase orders, payments, and employee reimbursements, researching discrepancies, and ensuring all credits are applied correctly.

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting OR 5 years of accounting-related experience.
• Experience with both AR and AP functions required.
• Strong understanding of accounting principles, reconciliations, credit review, and financial documentation.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
• Excellent communication and problem-solving ability.
• Highly organized with strong follow-through.

• This is a largely sedentary role; however, some filing is required. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand on a stool as necessary.
