Job Description
The Collection Technician is responsible for collecting biological specimens at client sites for the purpose of conducting scientific testing. Duties will include maintaining the integrity of the collection process, obtaining insurance information for billing purposes, packaging and preparing specimens for shipment.
Qualified Candidates MUST possess:
- Medical assistant certification or Certified Nursing Aid certification is preferred.
- Active driver’s license/reliable transportation
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Able to relate well with clients in a professional and compassionate manner
- Ability to work proficiently and efficiently in a timely manner
- Basic computer knowledge including
- Must be well organized and detail oriented
- Strong work ethic and commitment to completing assigned tasks
- Legible handwriting required
- Knowledge of specimen handling and labeling
Job Duties:
- Specimen Collections (Urine&Oral Fluid)
- Complete necessary documentation accurately and proper chain of custody
- Make sure insurance information is verified and included with every sample
- Abide by HIPPA regulations
- Prepare all specimens for shipment
- Schedule pickup as it pertains to the clients locations
- Transport specimens to lab if requested
- Complete all duties in a timely manner with accuracy
- Communicate with laboratory staff and client employees in a professional manner
Education/Experience
- CMAor CNA certificate or Equivalent experience preferred
- High School Diploma or GED
- Experience in related field preferred
- Excellent verbal and written skills required
