POSITION SUMMARY:


The Chief Cultural Health Office (CCHO) will work closely with key executives and program managers to identify needs and plan funding revenue streams for the cultural department activities. Communicate information clearly and concisely for proper patient referral. Schedule, coordinate, and conduct planned cultural activities such as facilitating Red Road Groups, Language Classes, and other cultural activities as needed by our Native American Community. Maintain records and prepare required reports.

Provide direct supervision of the cultural program staff in Sioux Falls and Pierre Clinics. Supervise any inters, students, and/or contractors. Assess cultural components and how they affect and determine the most appropriate methods to

incorporate into each client's cultural holistic healing plan. Determination of the need for and type of culturally based spiritual interventions, therapeutic cultural tasks, setting procedures and rules for cultural groups, meetings, referring clients for guidance with client problems.


DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Facilitates and supervises techniques and activities to provide relatives with access to groups, materials, and information to aid in their cultural healing holistic health plan.
  • Serves as a liaison between the program and community recovery organizations and programs to maintain communications regarding client activities and needs and provides community resources for clients in recovery with the cultural healing program.
  • Participates in continuing education training and workshops as needed to maintain high level of competency.
  • Develop and execute internal cultural training for SDUIH staff.
  • Train and teach SDUIH staff, as needed.
  • Complete annual reviews and other feedback as needed, to staff under supervision.
  • Performs other duties, as assigned.
  • Ability to maintain flexible work schedules including evenings and weekends.


KNOWLEDGE OF:

  • The traditional, cultural, and spiritual practices of a diverse American Indian community.
  • Must understand the American Indian community and culture, as well as experience working with people from diverse ethnic groups and various backgrounds.
  • HIPAA and OSHA rules and requirements.
  • Ethical and moral counseling standards and protocols.
  • Community programs and resources.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and tasks concurrently and meet deadlines.


QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A bachelor’s degree is preferred.
  • Possess a valid state driver’s license.
  • Computer proficiency and efficient/accurate data-entry skills.
  • Established work with the Native communities.
  • Pass a federal background check. Must not have any felony convictions as related to the federal grant authority.
  • Able to travel to/from Sioux Falls to Pierre, SD.
  • Must be CPR certified or be willing to obtain CPR certification within 6 months of employment.
