What are the responsibilities and job description for the Expeditor position at SDM Composites?
Basic Purpose and Objective
Coordinate all production control activities performed by our supply base of all work orders within the organization to achieve to the production plan. Work closely with both Production Control Expeditor _ INHOUSE and area management to deploy resources and shift work orders to our supply base to achieve the company objectives. Communicate to the organization any disruptions in production that could jeopardize the shipment schedule for proper schedule recovery while maintaining the financial objectives of the company.
Specific Duties And Responsibilities
⢠Expedite movement of jobs to and from our supply based in a timely manner.
⢠Follows sequence of operations in accordance with written instruction, routers and verbal instructions to achieve the production plan.
⢠Reads and interprets department dispatch lists for prioritizing purposes and for scheduling vendors accordingly.
⢠Monitors vendor’s internal capacity daily to accurately select the vendor of choice to perform the work.
⢠Attend daily shipment meeting to determine which jobs to push throughout the day, update status and provide completion dates on all work orders at vendors.
⢠Locates, depalletize, and move jobs to specified production areas manually or using a handcart or forklift.

⢠Prepares request for quotes, purchase orders, and purchase orders receivers of all work orders moving within the organization.
⢠Works with accounting to accurately, and in a timely manner, maintain receipts of services renders by vendors.
⢠Coordinates resources within the organization to move work orders continuously within the facility, and to/from our suppliers.
⢠Maintains accurate prices and lead times for the supply base.
⢠Communicate to Quality and Engineering any issues that may arise at any vendor throughout the course of production.
⢠Obtains confirmation on completion dates of all work orders issued to the vendors on a daily basis.
⢠Support production through the manufacturing process as required.
⢠Utilize ERP to properly track jobs as they move to each department and to create/maintain any administrative actions with OSP.
⢠Other duties may be assigned by management.
Skills And Formal Training Requirements/Experience
⢠Able to read, comprehend, and execute directions from mechanical drawings.
⢠Ability to anticipate problems and initiate corrective measures.
⢠Prepare and process office documents
⢠Experience with MRP systems, project management software (MS Project), MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), and Internet browser (MS Explorer) is highly preferred.
⢠High school diploma or general education degree (GED) or equivalent
⢠3-5 years’ experience in production planning, scheduling and material control.
