Position Overview
SDL is seeking a Hedge Fund Accountant to join one of our top clients. This role involves overseeing the financial operations of hedge fund portfolios, ensuring accurate reporting, compliance, and efficient processing of transactions. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in fund accounting, a deep understanding of financial instruments, and the ability to collaborate effectively with various internal and external stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the preparation and review of daily, monthly, and quarterly Net Asset Value (NAV) calculations, ensuring accuracy and compliance with fund policies.
- Reconcile cash and position balances across internal records and external counterparties, including prime brokers, custodians, and banks.
- Monitor and validate trade settlements, ensuring timely and accurate processing of transactions.
- Collaborate with portfolio managers and traders to understand and account for complex financial instruments, including derivatives, fixed income, and equity securities.
- Prepare and review financial statements, investor reports, and tax documentation, ensuring compliance with applicable accounting standards.
- Assist in the budgeting and forecasting processes, providing insights into fund performance and expense management.
- Coordinate with auditors during the annual audit process, providing necessary documentation and addressing any inquiries.
- Implement and maintain internal controls to safeguard assets and ensure the integrity of financial data.
- Track and report on charitable contributions and gifts for compliance and reporting purposes.
- Maintain and update a comprehensive calendar for key financial deadlines and due dates
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 2 years of experience in public accounting
- CPA certification required
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
- High level of discretion and integrity in handling confidential financial information.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Proactive approach with a strong work ethic and attention to detail.
