Role Description The Animal Technician I–III is a full-time, on-site role based in Windham, ME. This position supports animal-based antibody production by performing daily animal care, handling, and monitoring in accordance with established protocols and welfare standards. Responsibilities include preparing and maintaining animal housing and equipment, assisting with procedures and sample collection, and documenting observations and data accurately. The technician collaborates with laboratory and production staff to ensure proper husbandry, biosafety, and compliance with internal SOPs and regulatory guidelines. Depending on level (I–III), the role may also involve training peers, troubleshooting routine issues, and contributing to process improvements in animal operations.


Qualifications

  • Strong foundation in Animal Care and Animal Handling, with attention to welfare, safety, and regulatory compliance.
  • Experience with Animal Work in a research or production environment, including routine monitoring, recordkeeping, and following SOPs.
  • Laboratory Skills relevant to antibody production, such as sample handling, basic aseptic technique, and use of standard lab equipment.
  • Background or education in Animal Science or a related biological field.
  • Ability to follow detailed instructions, maintain accurate documentation, and work effectively within a team-based environment.
  • Comfort with physically demanding tasks, including standing for extended periods, lifting moderate weights, and working in animal facility conditions.
  • Familiarity with GMP or ISO-certified environments is preferred.
  • Previous experience in animal facilities (academic, pharmaceutical, or biotech) and a high school diploma; an associate or bachelor’s degree in life sciences is advantageous.
