Description and Requirements
- Cross-functional Collaboration:
- Work closely with design, engineering, quality, and supply chain teams to ensure smooth product introductions.
- Manufacturing Process Development:
- Design, validate, and implement new manufacturing processes, tooling, and test fixtures.
- Supplier and Manufacturing Management:
- Collaborate with contract manufacturers (CMs) and suppliers to develop and optimize custom parts and production processes.
- Documentation and Compliance:
- Prepare documentation such as bills of materials (BOMs), control plans, and work instructions, and ensure compliance with safety and regulatory standards.
- Risk Management:
- Conduct design for manufacturability (DFM) reviews, evaluate risks, and implement mitigation strategies throughout the product lifecycle.
- Process Improvement:
- Drive continuous improvement activities, analyze production performance metrics, and provide technical support to the manufacturing floor.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical field.
- 4 years of experience in manufacturing, process development, or new product introduction (NPI).
- Solid understanding of manufacturing processes such as machining, injection molding, sheet metal fabrication, and assembly.
- Experience working with contract manufacturers and suppliers in a high-mix, low- to mid-volume production environment.
- Proficiency in CAD tools (e.g., SolidWorks, Creo) and engineering documentation systems (e.g., PLM tools like Agile, Windchill).
- Strong knowledge of DFM/DFA principles and ability to lead design reviews with cross-functional teams.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and experience with root cause analysis tools (e.g., 5 Whys, Fishbone, FMEA).
- Familiarity with Lean manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills across technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in a related engineering or technical discipline.
- Six Sigma certification (Green Belt or Black Belt).
- Experience launching hardware products in a regulated industry (e.g., medical devices, automotive, aerospace, or consumer electronics).
- Knowledge of ERP/MRP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle).
