Professor of Practice in Criminology

The School of Psychology, Sociology and Rural Studies invites applications for a Professor of Practice within our criminology program. This is a full-time, benefit-eligible, nine-month, non-tenure track position tailored for professionals who are committed to bridging the gap between theory and practice in the field of criminology. As a Professor of Practice, this position will bring real-world expertise and experiences to the classroom, providing students with the skills and insights they need to excel in their future careers. This role will be a key contributor to our growing criminology program, guiding students in their pursuit of knowledge and excellence. Start date of August 2024. This faculty member is supervised by the Director of the School of Psychology, Sociology and Rural Studies. The School of Psychology, Sociology & Rural Studies offers undergraduate majors in Criminology, Psychology, and Sociology; undergraduate minors in Criminal Justice, Mental Health Services, Psychology, and Sociology; and a Master’s degree in Community Development.  South Dakota State University promotes access to and opportunities for all to receive the benefit of and participate in education, research, and service and is especially interested in candidates that can contribute to this land-grant mission of access. RESPONSIBILITIES:Teach courses in our undergraduate Criminology major and Criminal Justice minor programs.
