Extension Evaluation Field Specialist IIISDSU ExtensionSouth Dakota State University is searching for an Evaluation Field Specialist III in one of our regional extension centers located in either Aberdeen or Watertown, SD. This is a 12-month, full-time, benefit-eligible, non-faculty exempt, 100% Extension appointment and is accountable to the Extension Director. The successful candidate will have responsibility to build organizational capacity in program evaluation for both SDSU Extension and NDSU Extension. The Evaluation Field Specialist III supports the Extension mission, strategic vision, and planning assumptions, complies with applicable federal and state laws and regulations, and all University policies. South Dakota State University promotes access to and opportunities for all to receive the benefit of and participate in education, research, and service and is especially interested in candidates that can contribute to this land-grant mission of access.PURPOSE OF POSITION: The Evaluation Specialist will serve in an administrative appointment and therefore will be responsible for providing statewide administrative leadership to building both SDSU Extension and NDSU Extension’s organizational capacity to assess the effectiveness and efficiency of educational programs in achieving desired results and to contribute to the individual, community and organizational learning and performance improvement. Capacity building includes initiatives such as conducting evaluation studies, facilitating/assisting with professional development, supporting accountability and reporting functions and working with all Extension professionals in support of evaluation efforts. The Evaluation Specialist supports the SDSU and NDSU Extension mission, strategic vision and planning assumptions, complies with applicable federal and state laws and regulations, and all University policies.REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:Must be authorized to work in the United States. Sponsorship is not available for this position.Master’s Degree in education, economics, behavioral and social sciences, sociology other closely related field completed by first day of employment. Ability to conduct quantitative and qualitative evaluation. Experience in one or more of the following are preferred: analysis of qualitative data, survey design and development, statistical analysis skills, experimental and quasi-experimental design.Evidence of ability to evaluate community-based non-formal educational programs that reach racial-ethnic diverse audiences and communities.Demonstrated ability to teach and communicate ideas effectively verbally, in writing and through educational technology.Strong group and educational facilitation skills. Strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills in a team setting; ability to effectively manage conflicts.Demonstrated ability to work collaborativelyValid driver's license or ability to obtain one within 30 days of hire, and willingness to travel.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:Three or more years of professional experience An understanding of the Program Evaluation and Reporting System (PEARS) used by South Dakota and North Dakota Extension.Experience and success in measuring and assessing the impact and effectiveness of Extension/outreach programs.BENEFITS:South Dakota State University offers a wide range of excellent benefits including medical, dental, and flexible benefits, retirement plans, compensation packages, paid holidays, and vacation leave.
