ITALIAN LANGUAGE TEACHER (ADULT)

A Scuola Italiana di Portland Italian Language Teacher teaches conversational style Italian

language based on a prepared curriculum. There is a focus on grammar, conversation, and

culture. This position will be working in-person in our NW Portland location in the evenings.

Duties and Responsibilities

● Promptly and clearly communicate schedule with Program Administrator for curriculum

planning

● Follow curriculum and updates, flexibly amending and adjusting within the curriculum

framework, according to student’s needs

● Teaching Italian language skills to students, keeping in mind Scuola’s mission statement

● Responding to your students needs compassionately and with respect

● Initiating and ending class time according to the schedule and timeline

● Arriving on time and prepared for the classroom

● Taking care of the classroom, leaving it as you found it. Advising the Program Administrator

of any issues with the classroom space

● Treating students with respect and compassion, alerting the Program Administrator to any

issues with students that might arise.

Education and Qualifications

● Required: Fluency in the Italian language.

● Required: Experience in teaching adults the Italian language (at least one year of

experience)

● Required: Ability to work in the United States legally (we cannot provide legal assistance to

assist in approval to work within the United States)

● Required: Ability to teach in-person at our Pearl location (NW Portland, Oregon)

● Preferred: A Bachelor Degree or higher in education, Italian, or a related field (this is not a

requirement if you meet or exceed the teaching experience requirements)

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $32.00 - $38.00 per hour
