Responsibilities
- Perform grooming services including bathing, trimming, styling, and nail clipping tailored to each dog’s breed and individual needs
- Handle dogs safely and confidently using proper animal restraint techniques to ensure their comfort and safety during grooming procedures
- Assess each pet’s coat condition, skin health, and overall behavior to determine appropriate grooming methods
- Maintain a clean and organized grooming station, ensuring all tools and equipment are sanitized and well-maintained
- Communicate clearly with pet owners about grooming preferences, special needs, or health concerns such as veterinary issues or allergies
- Assist with pet handling tasks outside of grooming, including pet sitting or kennel duties as needed
- Support team members with additional animal care tasks such as pet sitting or basic veterinary assistance when required
Experience
- Prior experience in pet grooming or animal handling is highly preferred
- Knowledge of dog training techniques and veterinary experience is a plus for understanding animal behavior and health considerations
- Background in veterinary technician or veterinary assistant roles enhances ability to recognize health issues during grooming
- Experience with animal restraint, pet care, kennel management, or heavy lifting contributes to safe handling of pets of all sizes
- Strong customer service skills to effectively communicate with clients and ensure a positive experience for pet owners
