Responsibilities
Clinical Duties
- Room patients and prepare them for provider visits
- Obtain and accurately document vital signs, medical histories, medication lists, allergies, and chief complaints
- Perform medication reconciliation
- Assist providers during examinations and procedures
- Administer injections, vaccinations, and medications as permitted by state regulations and office policy
- Perform point-of-care testing, specimen collection, EKGs, and other clinical duties as assigned
- Prepare and stock examination rooms and treatment areas
- Maintain infection control and safety standards
Documentation & Electronic Health Records
- Accurately document patient information within the Electronic Health Record (EHR)
- Review charts for completeness and accuracy
- Assist with obtaining outside medical records, lab results, and diagnostic reports
- Ensure timely and accurate documentation to support quality patient care
Care Coordination
- Process referrals, prior authorizations, and medication requests
- Coordinate laboratory testing, imaging studies, and specialty appointments
- Communicate with pharmacies, insurance companies, patients, and outside providers
- Assist with care management and follow-up activities as directed
Administrative Support
- Answer patient calls and respond to clinical messages appropriately
- Schedule appointments and assist with patient flow
- Verify patient demographics and insurance information
- Support front-office operations as needed
Qualifications
Required
- Current Certified Medical Assistant (CMA), Registered Medical Assistant (RMA), or equivalent nationally recognized certification
- Minimum of 1 year of medical assisting experience preferred
- Knowledge of medical terminology, clinical procedures, and healthcare documentation
- Experience using Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems
- Strong computer skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Preferred
- Experience in primary care, family medicine, behavioral health, addiction medicine, internal medicine, or outpatient specialty practice
- Experience with prior authorizations and insurance processes
- Current BLS certification
