Position Overview

Develops and executes all council activities, supports all district activities, and provides leadership to the council’s camping, activities, training, and advancement committees. Directs the management and operations of the council’s outdoor facilities and provides leadership to the council’s special fund-raising efforts. Includes other responsibilities that result in an increasing number of youth participating in a quality Scouting program. Supervises and guides one or more employees or professionals, accountable for the measurable results of the other employees or professionals.

Responsibilities
  • Plans, promotes, and directs the council’s year-round outdoor program, which may include summer camp.
  • Advises the council program pillar and develops vision and strategies for committees and their related areas of responsibility.
  • Leads, coaches, and develops assigned employees to achieve organizational objectives. Maintains records of employee performance and conducts quarterly performance evaluations. Develops and oversees all budgets related to program and facilities.
  • Build relationships with community organizations to create revenue-generating opportunities for council-owned facilities.
  • Assures the council’s long-range strategy achieves its mission and makes consistent, timely progress. Responsible for the council brand.
  • Support district executives with program guidance to strengthen district and unit-level delivery.
Education
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
Qualifications
  • Must be comfortable with public speaking and interacting with diverse audiences. Excellent people skills, enthusiastic, punctual, responsible, and creative.
  • Self-motivated individual with solid time management skills and strong organizational skills in management, budgeting, and planning.
  • Committed to personal and professional productivity while maintaining high ethical and professional working standards.
  • Must be willing to accept and meet the Boy Scouts of America’s leadership and membership standards and subscribe to the Scout Oath and Law.
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Attained 21 years of age or older unless prohibited by any applicable law.
  • Ability to work varied hours when necessary, evening activities, and weekend work are frequently required to achieve positive objectives.
  • Ability to travel for training at least once a year for one to two weeks.
  • A Scouting background is helpful but not required for employment.
  • Offers for employment are subject to criminal, reference, and motor vehicle background checks.

Salary or Salary Range: Compensation will be discussed during the interview process and based on experience, skills, and council needs.
