What are the responsibilities and job description for the Waterfront Director position at Scouting America, Sioux Council?
Join our team at Lewis & Clark Scout Camp located 10 miles West of Yankton South Dakota. Nestled on the Bluffs of the Missouri River, overlooking the Lewis and Clark Reservoir, our 400 acres have created memories for generations since 1957. Our Aquatics area consists of our waterfront, with access to sailboats, canoes, and Jet Skies.
Below are the qualities of an ideal candidate for this role to have a summer of overseeing the waterfront fun!
Qualifications: •
Must be at least 21 years old • Possess a current BSA National Camping School Card (or able to obtain before camp) • Currently Certified in CPR and physically able to act quickly in emergencies • Current American Red Cross Lifeguard Certification
Responsibilities: • Supervise, train, and motivate the waterfront staff in all aquatic activities. • Offer a quality aquatics program to include Safe Swim Defense, Safety Afloat, free boating, and swimming. • The maintenance, inventory, security, safety, and use of all aquatic equipment. • Set-up, and takedown, of all waterfront facilities. • Classify all campers according to their swimming ability during check-in and as needed throughout the camp period. • Submit a detailed inventory of aquatics equipment with recommendations for replacements and needed supplies for next summer camp. • Keeps accurate records for his/her area • Ensure that all aquatic activities conform to the safety standards as established by the Camping Committee • Promote the Safe Swim Defense Plan for use by the units in camp • Carry out all other duties as assigned by the Council Program Director & Camp Ranger
