Position Overview
Philmont is seeking a skilled Plumber responsible for the maintenance, repair, and installation of plumbing fixtures, piping, and systems across the base. This role includes performing routine preventative maintenance as well as responding promptly to emergency plumbing issues to support uninterrupted operations and safety. This position reports to the Supervisor Facilities Services.
Responsibilities
- Perform routine inspections and maintenance on plumbing systems, including pipes, fixtures, and equipment.
- Diagnose and repair plumbing problems, such as leaks, clogs, and faulty fixtures.
- Install new plumbing fixtures, pipes, and systems as needed.
- Respond to plumbing emergencies promptly, ensuring minimal disruption to base operations.
- Adhere to all safety regulations and procedures, including proper use of tools and equipment.
- Collaborate with other staff members to ensure the smooth operation of the base.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
Competencies
- Knowledge of: Plumbing systems, including pipes, fixtures, and equipment; plumbing codes and regulations; various plumbing tools and techniques; basic electrical and mechanical systems related to plumbing.
- Skill in: Problem-solving and troubleshooting various plumbing issues; maintaining fitness and stamina to work in challenging conditions; interpersonal communication.
- Ability to: Lift and carry heavy objects; work in confined spaces and at heights; use plumbing, hand and power tools safely and effectively; accurately follow written and verbal instructions.
Education
High School Diploma or GED equivalency.
Qualifications
- Minimum of three (3) years of experience in installation, maintenance, and repair of plumbing systems and fixtures.
- Experience working in a remote or outdoor setting is a plus.
- Must pass a criminal history background check.
Licenses
Journeyman plumber license or certification preferred.
