Job Description:

Scouting America, Alamo Area Council has an immediate opening for a Development Executive, who’s role it will be to provide leadership to the achievement of the Alamo Area Council’s philosophy, mission, and strategy, as they relate to its annual fundraising objectives and goals within the council’s 13 county service area.

This role will be primarily responsible for coordinating and building up the council’s annual product sales programs, as well as prospecting, evaluation and closing of short- and long-term funding prospects for annual giving campaigns. The role also includes some work on special events and legacy giving.

The Development Executive must be passionate about educating young people to make ethical and moral choices through experiences with quality adult mentors and outdoor adventures.

Candidates do not need previous experience in Scouting, although that is helpful. The ideal candidate will embody a commitment to the values of personal integrity, self-reliance, sound decision making, and lasting friendships to develop character and good citizenship in young people so that they may be leaders who build better communities.

Candidates must have at least 1 year or more experience in a fundraising capacity. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience that will enable them to INDEPENDENTLY know how to cultivate relationships.

Major Responsibilities:

· Planning, implementation and promotion of programs that support the council's strategic map and collaborate with colleagues within the Development & other departments from time to time.

  • Coordination, execution of and reporting for the council’s annual fall $1.4M Popcorn and spring $100k Adventure Card sales
  • Coordination, execution of and reporting for the council’s annual Merit Badge Sponsorship program
  • Coordination, reporting for the council’s annual District Friends of Scouting campaign.
  • Assistance with several annual special events.
  • Management of the Eagle Scout Association Committee (Eagle Scout Alumni

Group).

· Management of the San Antonio League of Scouting Alumni Committee (Scouting Alumni Group).

· Occasional other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, together with the ability to work collaboratively and courteously with colleagues throughout the council, other constituents and the public.
  • Strong writing, planning, and organizational skills.
  • Flexibility and initiative as well as ability to work independently.
  • The demonstrated ability to strategize, implement and build constituency programs and activities.
  • Ability to travel and work evenings and weekends on occasion, as needed.

Pay: $50,000.00 - $60,000.00 per year
